MW4 access, platforms and editions

What you need

The official October 23 announcement says MW4 and DMZ are available worldwide. This is an announcement, not a live server-status monitor.

Platforms

PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Battle.net, Steam or Xbox on PC.

Ownership

The launch announcement requires a separate MW4 purchase. Game Pass inclusion is announced for Holiday 2027; a subscription alone does not provide launch access.

Online play

DMZ needs a continuous internet connection. Console online access requires the applicable PlayStation Plus, Game Pass Essential or Nintendo Switch Online membership; a linked mobile number may also be required.

Xbox Play Anywhere

The official editions page identifies Xbox console and Xbox on PC purchases as Xbox Play Anywhere. This does not grant PlayStation, Steam or Battle.net ownership.

Edition comparison

Digital Standard

Full base game. Digital preorder benefits had separate deadlines; do not assume a new purchase receives expired offers.

Physical Standard

The support article lists Xbox Series X and PS5 physical editions. They contain the base game and cannot take the digital Vault upgrade. Switch 2 physical availability is not established by this article.

Vault

Digital base game plus Hostile Alliance and Special Forces Operator packs, five Signature blueprints, one BlackCell season, and the DMZ Deployment Bonus.

Vault in DMZ

One additional Active Duty slot and a kit containing two each of Weapon Insurance Contracts, Operator Rescue Beacons, Fulton Drop Markers, Medium Backpacks and 2-Plate Carriers. Blueprint access and the kit are separate; see their linked records.

Upgrade

Digital Standard can upgrade on its original platform. The support article lists a US $30 suggested upgrade price or regional equivalent; current store prices and account eligibility must be checked there.

BlackCell timing

The support article associates preorders with Season 1 and post-launch purchase/upgrade with the first new season after the transaction. The applicable account redemption window should be checked in the store.

Historical preorder offers

Early access

Digital preorders/prepurchases offered Campaign from October 16 and DMZ from October 20. These are historical access periods, not extra days offered by a purchase now.

Cosmetics

Hunter Killer, the Gilded Pearl camo pack and Inner Circuit M4 were digital preorder benefits with their own redemption conditions. A cosmetic entitlement is not an unlimited supply of DMZ inventory.

Loyalty discount

The 10% Vault preorder discount was tied to qualifying previously played titles and the same platform account, through launch. It excluded Vault upgrades. This is not a current price quote.
